Guests are subject to change. Resurgence uses that general axiom as the crux of its own storytelling, and Star Trek as a whole has improved immeasurably by leaving Rodddenberry's questionable rule behind. The Saturday Night concert is one of the highlights of our event and this year continues the tradition! We are proud to announce that THE ACTION FIGURES will be performing the concert - a spin-off of Band From TV, the iconic charity celebrity cover band, but with a new twist!įor the past 12 years, Band From TV has been the featured entertainment for major corporate and charity events all over the world, recorded on TV soundtracks (House), and even appeared on American Idol, The Tonight Show, at NASCAR, and at The Emmys galas! With a cast of major stars from TV and film, they have lit up countless stages across the globe. Utopia on a grander scale may be possible, but interpersonal friction is part of what it means to be human from the perspective of individuals. In eliminating emotionally driven conflicts between characters, Roddenberry's rule diminishes the secret weapon of any effective and relevant science fiction: its commentary on the human condition. Simply put, with this rule in place, many fan-favorite Star Trek shows, movies, and games ( Resurgence included) could not have existed as they do now. It is no small coincidence that this rule was quietly shelved as Roddenberry's creative control diminished, and many subsequent Star Trek stories have benefited from the change. In an interview with CBR for Star Trek: Picard, longtime Star Trek actor and director Jonathan Frakes recalled Roddenberry's ban on interpersonal conflicts, alluding to it limiting creative possibilities. RELATED: Geordi La Forge's Visor Was TNG's Most Important Prop Characters in TNG, particularly in the seasons overseen by Roddenberry, featured largely cordial interactions between the crew members unless behavior-altering forces were at play. Roddenberry argued that society had become so evolved by the events of TNG that serious interpersonal conflicts in the Federation would be a thing of the past. However, while the game provides an immersive adventure entrenched in the wider Star Trek mythos, it also clashes against a major, if admittedly odd, rule espoused by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry: no interpersonal conflicts between Starfleet personnel in the 24th century.Though the crew of Star Trek: The Original Series featured plenty of disagreement and intrigue, with Spock and Doctor McCoy especially clashing often, Roddenberry wanted a greater picture of harmony for Star Trek: The Next Generation. The new video game Star Trek: Resurgence places players in the shoes of the Starfleet science vessel the USS Resolute on a crucial mission deep in the final frontier. In contrast to many of its science fiction counterparts and contemporaries, Star Trek largely presents an optimistic view of humanity's future, serving as the bedrock for the interstellar governing body the United Federation of Planets and its defensive extension Starfleet.
